Repair of the Wavemaker Paddle Mounting Arrangement (SUPPLY CHAIN NOTICE (EARLY ENGAGEMENT)

QinetiQ is seeking to appoint a works contractor to carry out repairs to the mounting arrangement of the hydraulically actuated wavemaker fitted in the Ship Tank testing facility at Haslar Marine Technology Park, Gosport.
The testing facility contains a 270m (L) x 12.2m (W) x 5.4M (D) tank with the wavemaker fitted at one end of the tank.
The aim of the project is to carry out investigation and repairs to the wavemaker paddle mounting arrangements and then reinstate the wavemaker paddles to a standard that the wavemaker functions as designed (with no closure of the gap between the paddles).
QinetiQ will select companies whose experience and profile best matches the requirement following evaluation of responses to this EOI. Following the issue of a tender and evaluation, one company will be identified as the preferred bidder and awarded a contract to undertake the Works.

5. Other Information:
Wavemaker paddles are two separate paddles actuated by independent hydraulic rams that operate on a synchronised control signal. The paddles have been found to be clashing together when activated and when examined the 5mm vertical gap between them was no longer present.
Work has been undertaken to identify if there is any reason for the movement and clashing paddles but with no clear result.
