The retread process involves the surface treatment for roads by recycling the existing surface to a depth not exceeding 80 mm by harrowing and mixing in a specialised bituminous binder. The road is then regraded and sealed with a further layer of bituminous emulsion and surface dressed.

Micro Asphalt surfacing to carriageways shall be laid either 10 mm or 15 mm deep in accordance with the specification document, which forms part of the contract.

A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows:

Under this framework the successful contractors will be requested to contribute to the Councils’ economic, environmental and social objectives.

Based on the successful contractors’ annual spend with each individual Council there will be a requirement to meet the minimum number of community benefits points (as detailed in the ITT).

If you agree to adopt this community benefit approach, are successful in the award of this framework and meet the minimum annual spend threshold of 25 000 GBP you will be required to deliver the community benefits as per the table within the ITT.

Successful contractors will be required to report to each of The Councils on the community benefits delivered on an annual basis.
