Notice Abstract

The University of South Wales (USW) has a requirement to purchase a hydraulic flume. The flume will be utilised in the department of Civil Engineering as part of their laboratory sessions that are assessed and form part of a student’s coursework. Additionally it will be used as a tool for non-assessed work enabling an element of blended learning via demonstrations to students. It may also be used for final year dissertations, Masters and PhDs, if so required, as well as providing a much needed visual example of Civil Engineering for open days and school visits as part of USW’s recruitment drive. The flume would enable students and researchers alike to look at various aspects of open channel flow and movement over/under and through varying hydraulic structures, such as weirs, sluice gates etc. Additionally it will be utilised to also look at sediment transport in channels which would potentially make it useful in geotechnics.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=95000.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility.
