Notice Abstract

The Office of Public Works (OPW) seeks tenders from reputable suppliers for the redesign of the Heritage Ireland Website (http://www.heritageireland.ie) and the creation of a mobile app. The OPW is charged with the care and conservation of Ireland's National Monuments and Historic Properties estate. These range from large visitor attractions such as Kilkenny Castle, Phoenix Park, Rock of Cashel and Clonmacnoise to smaller less-visited sites and include various parks, gardens and national monuments. The Heritage Ireland website is the online presence for these sites. Currently, there are 70 no. sites with full visitor facilities, 46 of these locations are seasonal sites, closing during the winter months and the remainder operate on a year round basis. A number of the larger sites have on-line booking delivered via Admit One (https://www.admit-one.eu/). In addition to the staffed locations, there in excess of 700 no. National Monuments in State care across the country, about 50% of which are accessible to the public; however, most of these places have limited or no visitor facilities and there are no full-time staff at the locations. There are a number of different aspects to the services required in this RFT. These include, but are not limited to: 1. The complete redesign and development of http://www.heritageireland.ie and creation of a mobile app. 2. The implementation of a Content Management System (CMS) to allow effective on-going management of the site by OPW personnel. 3. CMS training for OPW personnel. 4. A programme of ongoing support and maintenance. The OPW will provide the successful Tenderer with text, images, videos and other material for the creation of the Website and Mobile Apps. Ownership of all data uploaded to the site rests with the Commissioners of Public Works as will ownership for the copyright of the new website and all its bespoke design elements. The intention is to host the finished Website in the cloud so there will be no requirement for hardware.
