Forth Road Bridge - Viaduct Platform Refurbishment Amey are seeking a suitably experienced contractor to undertake the refurbishment of the Forth Road Bridge Viaduct box girder platforms. The platforms are currently in place to facilitate access to the viaduct box girders, which are classed as a confined space. The platforms were erected in the 1970’s and have come to the end of their service life. The platforms are connected to the man viaduct box girders through a series of hangers, which support the main floor structure. The structure consists of two separate 12m by 6m platforms under each box, which are connected with a bridging walkway which spans around 18m between the platforms. This arrangement is replicated at both the North and South approach viaducts. The works associated with this project shall comprise, but shall not be limited to the following tasks; - design and erect a temporary works platform for undertaking the works, - take down the existing components to blast, - undertake a condition survey on the steelwork after blasting to check for section loss, - fabricate and replace new steelwork elements (if condition survey requires), - galvanise platform elements - reinstall on site. - replace all bolts/fixings with new - undertake any site painting tie-ins - remove scaffold A new GRP mesh shall be installed to replace the current steel mesh, with the access arrangements around the box girder access hatches to be improved by installing a new staircase and handrailing system. The current access to this platform is though a hatch in the central reservation grillage. During these works it is proposed to install a new access ladder or hatch that can be accessed through the footway. It is expected that these works will involve the break out of concrete on the viaduct deck, with a series of concrete repair works. Any contractor wishing to bid for the must have the relevant National Highway Sector Scheme (NHSS) approvals and must be certified to undertake steelwork execution to EXC3 quality requirements. Any suitable contractor interested in the works should return the European Single Procurement Document (ESPD) by the specified return date.
