IWEA require a supply chain study to identify (i) the needs of the offshore industry, (ii) the opportunities available for Irish Companies, (iii) the gaps that will need to be filled by international supply chain to service the emergent offshore wind sector in Ireland and (iv) the policies and signals that need to be implemented by the Irish Government to incentivise investment by companies to meet the needs of the industry into the future. A strong supply chain is required for facilitating policy and project delivery both in the short, medium & long term. Maximising the indigenous content of supply chain will be key to this. Looking at all areas of the supply chain, a detailed assessment is required to outline what has worked in other jurisdictions and what would be the best fit for Ireland. The study should investigate what investment is required from an infrastructure and skills perspective and highlight the opportunity available encouraging investors from within Ireland who have the capability to adapt to the needs of the new industry as well as existing companies from outside of Ireland who wish to invest in the market. The study will be used as a strategy for engaging the relevant stakeholders for buy in and as a roadmap for future funding required for infrastructure and skills.
