Notice Abstract

Promoting Independence redesign (MARKET ENGAGEMENT EVENT) - 11th March 2019 Dorset County Council are currently in the process of reviewing services that support people to remain independent at home. We are looking at redesigning the current services available through the Dorset Accessible Homes service and the Sensory Impairment service which are due to be tendered in the summer 2019, ready for a contract start date of 1st April 2020. The DAHS service currently enables vulnerable older and disabled people to maintain their independence, health and well-being in their home and community. The service administers the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) funding. This provision currently includes advice and information, access and assessment, housing options, assistive technology and telecare, minor repairs and adaptations and major adaptations. The sensory impairment service provides advice, guidance and equipment (including assistive technology) to those who have a sight or hearing impairment. As part of the redesign process, we would like to engage with providers around how the service might look in the future, and what considerations need to be taken in to account. Some of the aspects of the service that will be discussed are: • Information, Advice and Guidance • Supporting people to maintain their independence • Assistive Technology and Telecare • The use of independent living centres • Major and minor adaptations • Housing options • Supporting people with sight loss and blindness • Supporting people with hearing loss and deafness We are holding a market engagement event on Monday 11th March 2019 1pm at the Dorford Centre, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1RR.
